Orelac Racing VerdNatura kicked off their first test of 2018 at Jerez today, with ‘Tati’ Mercado onboard the Kawasaki ZX-10RR and Nacho Calero on the Kawasaki ZX-6RR. For the team the World Superbike Championship is new territory and a lot of work has to be done before the first race at the end of February.
“Today was all about learning the bike and trying to get comfortable with it. We had some technical issues in the first part of the day, but we worked through a lot of them and I was able to push harder in the last hour or so. I think today went pretty well and I learnt a lot about the bike and I am confident that we will learn more tomorrow and improve our lap times.”
“This was my first time on my bike since last November, so I took things steadily at the beginning. Today was not so bad and we worked quite a bit on the bike’s gearing, amongst other things. We may have some new parts for tomorrow and so I am sure that we will continue to improve.”
Giulio Bardi (Team Manager)
“We had a brought stuff to test for Nacho and I am happy because everything we did was going in the right direction. The Superbike project is a big and new step for us and we are starting it from zero, with not much time before the first race. We all learning together, but I am very happy how today went.”
