Orelac racing VerdNatura rider Nacho Calero struggled to make an impact in today’s16-lap WorldSSP Round 7 race in Brno today. Starting from 26thon the grid is never easy and to make matters worse, Nacho was baulked going into turn 1 at the start and lost a lot of ground. From then on in, he had to play catch-up, but it turned out to be a lonely race for the Spaniard. He pushed hard and ended 21st.
Nacho – 21st
“My start was OK, but a lot of riders got in the way going into turn one and by the time we all exited it, I was at the back of a group. I managed to move up a place by the end of lap one and then up to 22ndfive laps later.
It then took five or six laps to overtake another rider and get into 21st, but unfortunately the group ahead was too far away to catch and so the rest of the race was pretty lonely for me.”
Giulio Bardi (Team Manager)
“Not much to say really. This championship is very competitive and it is almost impossible to get a good result at the best of times, but when you start so far back down the grid it is an extra problem. It’s difficult overtaking other riders at the best of times, but when you are in a big group heading into the first turn, things can get a bit hectic. Nacho needs to be higher up the grid so that he can give himself a chance of a good race and better results.”
