It was a tough day at the office for Orelac Racing VerdNatura rider Nacho Calero in Assen. His start was not so bad and he was up to 21st at the end of the first lap. He had almost a race-long battle with Sebestyen and Coppola and passed both to be in 17th by lap 14. But by then he was too far behind the group in front and so finished 17th.
Nacho – 17th
“My start wasn’t too bad and I concentrated on running consistent lap times and pushing hard where I could. Generally, the bike was working well except that my problem today in the race was the same as the rest of the weekend – lack of acceleration out of the turns. I could catch riders going into the turns, but my bike didn’t have enough acceleration to get past them out of the turns. I am happy enough with my lap times – I think my fastest lap was probably the last lap of the race – but I am a little frustrated about the bike’s lack of acceleration.”
Giulio Bardi (Team Manager)
“I think Nacho had a pretty decent race today. He was involved in a good fight and his lap times were consistent. It looks like his bike has a problem
accelerating out of the turns, so we’re going to have a look and see if we can fix this. Hopefully we can do this and Nacho will have a better feeling with the bike and be able to attack more.”
